Troop Updates!
BSA Camp Norse Klondike - We had an excellent time at the Klondike – weather was pretty cold but our Scouts were prepared and had a great time. Thanks to SM Joiner for the excellent selection of movies for the evening program. Next year’s program will require some new sleds…..time to start planning!
Meetings
- Next Troop Meeting is Thursday February 4th – This will be a very busy meeting – SM Joiner will be leading a discussion to review our Klondike weekend and will be holding a Disability Awareness MB session beginning at 8pm (don’t forget to bring your worksheets). There will also be a trip preparation discussion for those Scouts that are attending OKPIK high adventure winter camping trip this weekend (WOOHOO)!
- PLC meeting - our next PLC meeting is scheduled for Sunday March 7th at 2pm. The meeting will be held at the Stone Church. We had a very strong turn-out for the last meeting – keep up the good work!
- Red & Green Banquet – Feburary 27th the Troop will be having it’s annual Red & Green Banquet. This is a family event held in celebration of all the Scouts, Scouters Parents and Friends of Troop 79. Please mark your calendar, detail information will be available soon.
Trips & Travels
- OKPIK is this weekend (WOOHOO)! The weather looks like its going to make for a great weekend of outdoor camping. Don’t forget – if you have a backpack cook stove bring it with you….never know when you’ll need a warm water bottle!
- Ski Trip at Mt Sunapee - Feburary 28th (tentative) SPL M. Mooreshead is working with Mr. Mendoza to schedule a family ski trip. There are no age restrictions or ability requirements and all are welcome to participate. Please see SPL Mooreshead for details.

- Our Gettysburg Trip has been approved! This week long trip (April 18th – 24th) will take the Scouts to the most famous battlefield of the civil war – Gettysburg. Scouts will hike the trails where Picketts charged occured and the battle of Little Round Top, experience the awe of the Gettysburg cemetary and have a chance to attend the ”ghosts’ of Gettysburg tour. In addition, during the last leg of the trip Scouts will visit Philidalphia, home of the liberty bell and the signing of the Declaration of Independence!
